Energy Capital Cooperative Child Care finalizes purchase of building
Energy Capital Cooperative Child Care closed on the purchase of the New Bethel Congregational Church Dec. 28, 2016, in Hazen, ND. The building will be home to a new child care center, set to open in March.
Erin Huntimer, Basin Electric project coordinations representative, said the church building, which held its last service this past fall, is a perfect location for the new child care center. “The members of the church wanted to leave a lasting legacy in the community,” she said. “The church placed great value in ministering to youth and families, so knowing the building will still be filled with kids and life made this purchase a win-win situation for everyone involved.”
The child care facility will be known as the New Bethel Center. Now that the purchase of the building is finalized, the cooperative can move forward with necessary site renovations, which include a kitchen remodel and installation of an integrated fire detection system.
The co-op is also currently in the process of hiring a program director, and applications for this position are being accepted. Candidates must have a degree in early childhood education or child development, or meet the North Dakota teacher licensing qualifications.
