Thursday afternoon, Lyons Specialized Transport pulled into Isabel with a huge pressure tank that they were taking to Beulah, ND via Buffalo, SD. They had come from Mobridge. The reason that the round-about route was taken was because of road construction, width restrictions and the weight of the load. The 100 to 120-foot tank alone weighs 150,000 pounds with the total weight of the tank and carriage totaling 250,000 pounds. The pressure tank started out from Bellville, Ohio and then was taken to Sandusky, Ohio and put on a barge which took the tank to Duluth, Minnesota. From there they went through Cambridge, MN and to Mobridge. They can travel between 15-20 miles an hour. The tank takes up over half of the highway and is approximately 25-30 feet wide and 150 feet long including the truck pulling the tank. The final destination is Beulah, North Dakota.
