Dakota Gasification Company - September 24, 2009
Members of Basin Electric’s government relations staff along with co-op leaders throughout the country are scheduled to participate in a fly-in on Capitol Hill Sept. 28. Their objective: to address climate legislation before Senate floor debate begins.
Prior to the fly-in, Glenn English, CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, sent a letter to Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Barbara Boxer. In the letter, English summarized key issues for electric cooperatives. Co-op leaders will sit down with Senators and Congressmen from their respective states to discuss those key issues.
Following the listening session, Basin Electric, along with attendees from member statewide associations and generation and transmission cooperatives in Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming, will be sponsoring a reception for the Senators, Congressmen and their staff members.
