Dakota Gasification Company - November 19, 2009
The 2010 Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute (RMCMI) scholarship applications are now available online. Scholarship criteria and application forms can be found on the RMCMI Web site, www.rmcmi.org. Click on the “Education” link on the left side of the homepage, then click “Apply for Scholarships.” The deadline for scholarship applications is Feb. 1, 2010.
The scholarship award has been increased from $4,000 to $5,000 ($2,500 per year for two years). The applicant must have an interest in western coal and be pursuing a degree in a mining-related field or certain engineering disciplines. The scholarship winners will receive an all expenses paid trip to attend the annual RMCMI convention in June.
In 2007, RMCMI began a scholarship program for those attending technical/trade schools. This program provides eight one-year, $1,000 scholarships to encourage technical students to pursue careers in the coal industry.
Applicants must be a resident of one of the RMCMI eight member states (Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, Wyoming).
