Basin Electric’s Regional Advertising Advisory Group (RAAG) will hold its yearly meeting Nov. 2-3 adjacent to the Basin Electric Annual Meeting.
Comprised of at least one representative from each of Basin Electric’s 11 districts and members of the North Dakota and South Dakota statewide associations, RAAG meets yearly to discuss current communication practices of member cooperatives and share materials that can benefit other member systems.
Dennis Gad, committee chairman and Basin Electric member media coordinator, said the major things the committee hopes to accomplish are to maintain consistency of message, reduce cost through sharing of products and services, and gain efficiency in advertising and marketing efforts directed at our members.
Prior to the meeting, Gad sends a survey to group members looking for topics they want to learn about to help them do their jobs better.
The meeting will kick off at the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck with a luncheon. Throughout the remainder of the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Basin Electric professionals on a variety of subjects including:
Attendees will also be given a demonstration of the redesigned Basin Electric members’ Web site and order fulfillment Web site and view the Story Behind the Switch program. Members will then take part in a roundtable discussion on how to effectively collaborate to communicate a consistent message and create cost efficiencies by aggregating resources pertaining to the preceding presentations.
Although the group only meets once each year, Gad said members try to remain in constant contact to unify communication efforts across Basin Electric’s service territory.
“This meeting grants us the opportunity to hear from those representing the districts – the folks that really carry the water on programs and services that come from Basin Electric and go to the members. It’s good to hear and see needs from the customer’s perspective instead of always from the power supplier point of view.
This group takes valuable tools and information from the frontline people straight to the common denominator, the people at the end of the line,” Gad said.
