A group of ten state legislators from South Dakota took a tour of Basin Electric facilities Aug. 18.

The one-and-a-half day educational tour was facilitated by the South Dakota Rural Electric Association, two Class A members of Basin Electric, East River Electric Power Cooperative and Rushmore Electric Power Cooperative, and Basin Electric.

In addition to Antelope Valley Station, the group visited the Great Plains Synfuels Plant and the Freedom Mine.

Before coming to North Dakota, the legislators stopped at East River or Rushmore Electric, depending on their location, for a history lesson on rural electric cooperatives.

Watch future issues of Basin Update for a video report from the tour.
