Bismarck, N.D. – Floyd Robb, a familiar Basin Electric face and voice to reporters from literally around the world, will retire on January 6, 2012. He announced his retirement in October 2011.

Robb joined Basin Electric’s Communications Department in 1979, as the supervisor of the multi-media division. In 1985 he was named manager of communication services, and in 1999 he was named vice president of communications and marketing support. In that function, Robb also served as the cooperative’s chief spokesman, which includes Dakota Gasification Company, Basin Electric's largest subsidiary.

Over the years, he has appeared on the CBS television news program “60 Minutes” and has appeared on a documentary produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Robb was most familiar, however, to many reporters in the upper Midwest and especially in Bismarck. For the past 12 years, Daryl Hill has supported Robb as spokesman for Basin Electric and will continue to serve in that duty. Mary Klecker-Green now joins Hill as co-spokesperson.

“I’ve learned a lot from Floyd over the years. His guidance, patience and support will always be remembered,” Hill said. “He’s been an excellent supervisor and a valued co-worker.”
