Former Great Plains Synfuels Plant process operations manager will direct new Administration department for Basin Electric.

Dave Sauer, formerly manager of process operations at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant, will direct Basin Electric’s new Administration department, including both parent and subsidiary human resources, information systems and telecommunications (IS&T), corporate services, internal auditing, and procurement divisions. The Great Plains Synfuels Plant is owned by Dakota Gasification Company, a major subsidiary of Basin Electric Power Cooperative.
Sauer has been employed with Dakota Gas for more than 22 years in various positions with extensive experience within the Basin Electric family. A graduate of North Dakota State University with a major in mechanical engineering, Sauer has worked as both a maintenance and construction engineer and supervisor during his tenure with Dakota Gas. His work included participation in the design, construction and start up of both the flue gas scrubber unit and anhydrous ammonia plant at Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah, ND. For 12 years Sauer was maintenance manager and in 2010 he assumed responsibility for overseeing process operations. Sauer lives in Hazen, ND, with his wife Deb.
